Water Bottle Run
The Water bottle Run targets intoxicated people in the Adelaide CBD such as Rundle mall and Hindley Street, providing rehydration, physical aid, refuge, and psychological support.
The Water Bottle Run occurs throughout the year on a Saturday night, through a team of volunteers who hand out water bottles to the intoxicated. In operation for over twelve months, the Water Bottle Run has literally picked people off the pavement, helped others sober up, listened to people share thoughts of suicide, and provided a safe haven for many.
On the first Saturday of the month, a team of volunteers meet at the rear of the Pirie Street Salvation Army building at 11pm. Over 700 bottles of water are packed into the van before proceeding both the Rundle Mall and Hindley Street locations. After handing out the water we proceed back to the Pirie St address and pack down before finishing at about 1.00am.
