Do Unto Others (Luke 6:31)

‘thank God for the Salvos’

“Do Unto Others” is the community project and social justice arm of CitySalvo’s. It is more than just a name for us, chosen because of Luke 6:31 “Do to others as you would have them do to you”, we feel that this declaration represents our mandate.

In a typical week, across Australia, The Salvation Army provides:

  • 100,000 meals for the hungry
  • 2,000 beds for the homeless
  • 5,000 to 8,000 food vouchers
  • 1,000 people with assistance in finding employment
  • Refuge to 500 victims of abuse
  • Assistance to 500 people addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling
  • Several thousand people with counselling
  • 3,000 elderly people with aged care services
  • 40 people in the court system with chaplaincy services
  • Family tracing services which locate 40 missing family members

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8&9 NLT

We serve our community as an expression of the Love that has been revealed to us through Jesus Christ. Do Unto Others has ministries that reach out an arm to children and families in hospital who are desperate and suffering, while at the same time providing blankets, food, and clothing to the homeless on the streets of Adelaide.

The values that govern “Do Unto Others” are Justice, Hope, Dignity, Equality, and Love. We aim to bring a sense of community, to restore dignity, and to encourage, inspire, and activate people toward a promising future.
